Rules

Rocket League rules!

1. General

  1. The tournament's judges/administrators are the "Game-Crew". They want to have the last word in all situations. Decisions made by an administrator override all rules in this document.

  2. Administrator for Rocket League at The Gathering 2023 is:

    • Thunder-Roar "Chocio" Ågotnes - Discord: Chocio#1337

    • Sander André "J3RK" Steffensen - Discord: J3RK_BIGGI3#7780

  3. Administrator has the right to change, add or remove rules in this document at any time without informing the participants. We encourage you to check the rules before each match to ensure you are following the most up-to-date rules at all time.

  4. By registering for the tournament, you accept and confirm that you have read the rules, and that you agree that an administrator has the final say in decisions relating to the competition.

2. Tournament Format

  1. Game format – 3 vs 3

  2. Match winner – the team that scores the most goals, alternatively, that one of the teams gives up or on a walkover.

  3. Team composition – A team must consist of at least 3 players, but a maximum of 4 players (3 players and 1 substitute), and all players must be participants in The Gathering 2023, and be present in the Viking ship when their match is to start.

  4. The teams must be ready (including the equipment) and ready to play at least 20 minutes before the start of the match.

  5. Tournament format: Double elimination bracket.

3. Match Settings

  1. Server: Europe

  2. Players per team: 3

  3. Battle Mode: Private Battle

  4. Format: Best of 3, finals are best of 5

  5. Time per match: 5 minutes

  6. Arena: DFH Stadium, other arenas can be played if both teams agree

4. Private Match creation/connection procedure

  1. The first team mentioned in the match must always create the private match

  2. Creation of the match:

    Select "Play Online"

    Pick "Create Private Match"

No Mutators are allowed to be worn. (Use the default setup by pressing "Restore defaults".)

Make sure the "Joinable by" option is set to "Name/Password"

The host creates a name and password that the players can connect with

The host's teammates and opponents select "Play" -> Select "Private Match" -> Select "Join Private Match"

Players enter the same name and password that the host gives them via Discord.

All players must be in the match lobby before choosing a team.

The highest ranked always chooses the orange/red team, and the lowest ranked always chooses the blue team.

    The match will then begin.

5. Communication

  1. Each team must have a team captain. The team captain will be responsible for all communication between the team and the Administrator.

  2. The team captain must be available at least 30 minutes before each announced match time.

  3. If a problem occurs within the team with either equipment or network, it is the team captain's responsibility to contact the Administrator to inform them of the problem. If you cannot find an administrator, you can contact the "Game Desk" for help.

  4. Discord must be used to find opponents.

6. Important Rules

  1. It is always the team named first in the match schedule that will host the match, and is also the team responsible for ensuring that the opposing team captain has the match name and password.

  2. The teams will be placed randomly in the tournament.

  3. Should a problem arise before the first goal is scored or 20 seconds have passed, the match will be replayed. The opposing team and Administrator must be informed immediately and a screenshot must be taken.

  4. If a match is remade, each participant must select the same vehicle they selected in the original match.

  5. When the match is finished, the team captain from both teams must take a screenshot of the result and publish it on the tournament's official website.

  6. Each team captain must save the replay after each game. This will be the official proof of the match result should a conflict arise.

  7. If something should happen to the server or to the equipment that makes it impossible to continue the match, the team captains must contact the Administrator on Discord immediately. If Discord is not available, contact the Administrator at the game desk.

  8. It is expected that the team captains have read and understood all the rules, and inform their team about the rules. Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse under any circumstances.

  9. You must show good sportsmanship at all times. Saying things like "ez" or other rude and unsportsmanlike comments or behavior can lead to a warning, possibly disqualification from the tournament.

  10. Use of third party software is strictly prohibited. The use of such software is considered cheating, which will result in a warning or disqualification.

Important! Dont skip me An important thing when it comes to calculating time, you have to remember that there is 5 minutes of playing time. The countdown stops from the time a team scores until the ball is in motion after the "kickoff" again. A match lasts on average approx. 7-10 minutes depending on how many goals are scored. If there is a tie when the time is 0:00, then you go into "overtime". Then you play until the first team scores. This rarely takes more than 5 minutes. Total time for a match is approx. 08 - 15 minutes.

  1. The administrator always has the last word in a discussion.

7. The Teams

All players who will participate must register on the official website of the tournament.

If a player is substituted, this player cannot play the first match, after he has been substituted, without the consent of the Administrator.

Any substitute user and name change must be registered on the tournament's official website if they are to be used in the tournament.

A player can only participate for one (1) team. Players participating in the tournament for more than one (1) team will result in immediate disqualification for both teams for which he/she has played.

8. The Matches

Administrator decides when the matches will be played. If the teams are missing one or more players when a match is scheduled to start, they will lose on "walkover".

All teams must arrive at least 30 minutes before the match is scheduled to start, and the match must start at or before this time.

9. Spectators

No one other than the administrator or any commentator is allowed to be a spectator in-game, unless the administrator approves it.

The administrator is allowed to be a spectator if they deem it necessary.

10. Abuse and exploitation

Bug exploitation: Exploitation of known or newly discovered bugs during the match will result in disqualification of the team that exploited the bug(s).

Players who deliberately leave the match without official approval from an administrator will not be awarded a timeout for their team and the team must continue to play without them. This rule is removed if disconnection is caused by a network or system error. It is the team captain's responsibility to ensure that the reason for disconnection is officially reported to the Administrator as soon as possible.

Players who pause the match without a good reason will incur an official warning and, in the worst case, disqualification if repeated.

11. The definition of bugs:

Anything, outside of the players' control, that causes the game to crash, stop, or take advantage of things that shouldn't otherwise work.

12. Battle Replay

If an administrator says that the match must be remade, then it must be remade. If the teams get the wrong side (blue/red), the match will be replayed. The match can be replayed if one of these cases occurs:

  1. The game crashes.

  2. The game freezes.

  3. Server problems.

  4. The live broadcast goes down.

  5. Technical problems.

  6. Medical problems.

13. Complain

If you suspect that a team you have played against has cheated to win (even if they did not win), you must upload proof within one (1) hour of the end of the match. The administrator will look at your case individually and give you feedback regarding the result.

If an administrator knows one or more players on a team in a complaint case, this specific administrator will not process the case, if another administrator is available.

14. Game version

All players must install the latest version of the game to participate in the tournament. Updates must be installed before the tournament begins, so we avoid delays.

15. Cheating

  1. Warning: After one (1) warning has been given, the match will continue. If a team receives three (3) warnings during a match, that team will be disqualified from the tournament.

  2. Loss of match: If a team is penalized for an infraction (eg breach of "Gentleman's Rules, cheating" they will forfeit the match, regardless of the result.)

  3. Disqualifications: A disqualified team will be banned from the tournament. They will not have the opportunity to participate in more tournament matches.

  4. Planned disconnection: Any player who disconnects from the client without reconnecting, with the intention of replaying the match, causes their team to lose that match.

  5. That a player or a team is better than you or your team does not qualified as cheating. There is no point in complaining about this.

  6. Gentleman's Rules

Violation of these rules is a minor rule violation and will be dealt with individually depending on the degree of seriousness.

    • (1) No unnecessary chat in "ALL-CHAT". Exceptions here are phrases like "GG", "GLHF", "Good luck" etc. or if problems arise.

    • (2) Spam of pings is not allowed.

    • (3) You shall not engage in any form of threatening behavior, either in or out of the Game.

    • (4) If a single player on the team does not follow the rules, it may lead to the entire team being banned from the tournament.

16. Warnings and disqualifions

  1. A player will receive a warning if he does the following:

Do not follow what is said by the game administrator.

Arriving late or not showing up for a match.

    Foul language and/or bad behavior.

    Acts unsportsmanlike in any way.

  2. A player may be disqualified for any of the following reasons:

    • Receive three (3) warnings.

    • Any intimidating behaviour, bullying or violence (physical or verbal) towards any participant, spectator or game administrator.

    • When using cheats or other unfair game tactics (e.g. disrupting the opponent, physical blocking, bug exploits, etc.)

    • Misinforming a judge/administrator.

    • Not be present when a match is about to start.

    • Exploit bugs that obviously change the game's functionality.
